| In order to build
a web site that you are proud of and that successfully ranks high with the
search engines, some research on the
client’s part will be required. You will need to decide HOW you want
your web site to look and WHAT you want your web site to ACHIEVE for
you.
It is necessary that written permission be obtained if you would like any logos or images reproduced that you may want to feature on your web site. This includes any logos for specific brands or products that you sell or use to complete your services. Many distributors offer you advertising dollars, or will offer you some type of bonus for displaying their products and logos on your web site. If your suppliers have a Media Kit available, please request it – many manufacturer’s have compact discs or diskettes which contain product photos, corporate logos and advertising ideas. Please take the time to explore other web sites of people in the same field, and then decide what you want your web site to accomplish. When you visit these other sites, please write down their web site address, known as their domain name or URL. I will use these URL’s for researching your specific industry, and they will assist us when developing Meta Tags, which are key words that describe your business. Meta tags are the most crucial part of being found in the search engines. While you are doing research on other related web sites, please pay close attention to the "Links Pages". You may find that these other sites are recommending specific products. Many of these companies who sell a related product through a link exchange, offer Affiliate Programs. If your clients, click on, or follow a link from your web site, and make a purchase on their web site, you can earn a small percentage of the sale. Affiliate programs are another great way to offset the cost of your web site.
